SOFPOG Holds Stakeholder Engagement in Tarkwa
The Society of Family Physicians of Ghana (SOFPOG), in partnership with AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine, successfully held its National Stakeholder Engagement on Tuesday, 19th May 2026, at the Iduapriem Mine Clubhouse in Tarkwa as part of activities marking World Family Doctor Day 2026.Held under the theme, “Strengthening Primary Health Care Through Compassion and Digital Innovation,” the engagement brought together healthcare leaders, academia, policymakers, industry representatives, and health stakeholders to discuss the future of primary healthcare delivery in Ghana.
The programme featured remarks from distinguished guests including Mr. Daniel Boadi, Managing Director of AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine; Dr. Baaba Damoah, President of SOFPOG; Prof. Richard Kwasi Amankwah, Vice Chancellor of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT); and the Guest of Honour, Hon. Joseph Nelson, Western Regional Minister.
A key highlight of the event was an insightful panel discussion featuring Dr. Baaba Damoah, Prof. Richard Kwasi Amankwah, and Dr. Sarpong, representing the Western Regional Health Directorate.
The discussion explored innovative and compassionate approaches to strengthening primary healthcare systems, the role of digital health solutions, and the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration in improving healthcare outcomes for all Ghanaians.
