October Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign 2026

“Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters.”

SOFPOG and Pfizer Join Forces to Promote Breast Cancer Awareness Across Ghana

The Society of Family Physicians of Ghana (SOFPOG), in partnership with Pfizer, is taking breast cancer awareness to communities, healthcare facilities and the public throughout October as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2026.

Under the theme “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters,” the campaign seeks to promote breast health awareness, encourage early detection, address myths and misinformation, and support individuals and families affected by breast cancer.

As part of the campaign, Family Medicine training centres across Ghana will conduct daily breast cancer awareness talks, providing the public with practical information on breast cancer risk factors, warning signs, prevention, early detection and the importance of seeking timely medical care. The centres will also provide free clinical breast examinations, giving members of the public an opportunity to have their breast health concerns assessed by trained healthcare professionals.

The campaign will extend beyond face-to-face activities through a comprehensive media and social media campaign, featuring daily educational messages, expert perspectives, myth-busting content, breast health tips, survivor-focused stories and practical guidance on when to seek medical attention.

A dedicated Breast Cancer Symposium will also bring together healthcare professionals and relevant stakeholders for focused discussions on breast cancer awareness, prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment and comprehensive patient-centred care.

Through this collaboration, SOFPOG and Pfizer aim to strengthen breast cancer awareness and encourage individuals to take an active role in their breast health.

Know your breasts. Know the signs. Know your risk. Seek care early.

Because every diagnosis is a story, every survivor has a journey, and every journey matters.
