The third in a series of CPDs organized by SOFPOG to commemorate the 2023 World Family Doctor Day and 9th AGSM was held on Thursday 18th May 2023 at 4 pm. It was a hybrid event held virtually via zoom and in person at the Elmina Beach Resort, Elmina
It was on the theme “Current Trends in Management of Thromboembolic Events in Primary Care”
The speakers were Prof Ivy Ekem, Consultant Haematologist at the UCC-SMS and Dr Dora Egblewogbe, a Senior Family Physician at Korle Bu Polyclinic
Dr Egblewogbe, spoke on the topic, Evaluation and Diagnosis of thromboembolic events . She threw more light on various criteria used to Diagnose thromboembolic events as well as how to evaluate such patients who present at Primary care.
Prof Ekem spoke on the topic, Current approaches in the management of thromboembolic events and she touched on the various treatment regimens for thromboembolic events according to current research and guidelines
A presentation by Sanofi on Clexane which is one of the products used for treatment and prophylaxis of thromboembolic events
A total of about 750 participants took part in this CPD.
The program was moderated by Dr Benedict Quao, Family Physician at Ankaful Hospital .
